A few really big trees came down throughout the park, and one rather large one on the hill behind the nature center seems to have twisted itself down in high winds; most of the others were completely uprooted. All in all though the park seems to have survived, unlike Layhill Park's north side which was fairly decimated with lots of big trees down across the path. Haven't checked Layhill's south side yet, but as I am supposed to be leading an MOS walk there next Sunday, I suspect I should get over beforehand. Anyway, Meadowside had a few pockets of activity, with 9 warbler species found, with excellent looks at a low and lingering Tennessee Warbler and a rather late Canada. A juvenile sharpie bolted across a meadow and landed in a small tree hoping for some brunch, but when I left it was still there in the tree. A few female Indigo Buntings were still around and a couple of Swainsons Thrushes and a Least Flycatcher were nice finds. Lake Needwood was also quiet, but I did have a single flyover Broad-winged Hawk and an Osprey.
