The lighting was great this afternoon as it was bright and sunny and the sun was behind me. The Phalarope was in the water near the rear of the pond closest to John Hanson Road. It was feeding belly deep or slightly deeper. After several minutes I lost the bird, but turned it up again, this time much closer to the road (along the left hand side of the pond). I got pretty close views of the bird as it fed in the water, and at one point the Eared Grebe and the Phalarope were in the field of view of my scope at once. Many Caspian Terns, Yellowlegs, Northern Shovelers, Ruddy Ducks, Laughing Gulls, Ring billed Gulls, and Killdeer were also present.
