On Saturday at 8.30 AM today, 5 kestrels were flying back and forth over=20 mowed rough fields, behaving rather like night hawks with frequent wing beat= s and=20 turns.=A0 They were at ca. 40 ft.=A0 Weather: still, cloudy, gloomy, humid,=20= warm.=A0=20 About 10 minutes later I found them again, flying from tree top to tree top=20 on a hedge line, but keeping loosely together.=A0 Silent.=A0 Blue jays ahd f= lickers=20 were also present.

Have not seen kestrels in a group before.=A0 Family group?=A0 Migrants resti= ng=20 up? I suspected nesting early in the spring, but never saw any activity late= r,=20 during safe dates.

I would welcome any thoughts.
