However, after a fair amount of searching we did tally up a reasonable lot of migrants. Noteworthy was a beautiful male HOODED WARBLER near the nature center (thank you Linda Friedland!) These have gotten much rarer in recent years at Rock Creek (used to breed there when we started birding the area) and not often seen in autumn. Many fewer Catbirds and House Wrens compared to yesterday, still good numbers of tanagers and grosbeaks. Warblers: Black-and-White (2), Blackburnian (2), Black-throated Green (8), Black-throated Blue (4), Hooded (1), Magnolia (4), Nashville (3), Parula (2), Redstart (3), Yellowthroat (6). Other: Rose-breasted Grosbeak (10), Scarlet Tanager (10), Baltimore Oriole (1), Red-eyed Vireo (12), Swainson's Thrush (5), Wood Thrush (2), Brown Thrasher (1), Pewee (2), Phoebe (2), House Wren (5), Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (2) Many many many Robins, also a Kestrel and a Cooper's overhead.
