The title of his talk is "Do You Want a Boy or Girl? Manipulation of Offspring Sex in Passerines." Dr. Johnson has conducted research on a number of different bird species, and is broadly interested in the reproductive biology and behavior of birds. Here is a chance to learn, among other things, how female birds manipulate the sexual ratios of their offspring. The evening, at Sherwood House, begins with refreshments at 7:15 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Please join us. Directions to Sherwood House. From the Baltimore Beltway (I-695) take Exit 29A Cromwell Bridge Road. Turn east (away from the city) onto Cromwell Bridge Road. In one mile, turn left at the sign "the Sherwood House" (which is BEFORE the sign for "Willow Grove Farm"). Drive down the long driveway, across the bridge, bear to the right up the hill and follow the one way signs to the stone house at the top of the hill. Park in the lot next to the house and enter the house under the arch over the driveway.
