Hi All,

I took a short outing late this afternoon. My first stop was Great Oak = Pond (on the left on the way out to Great Oak Landing). With the sharp = strong cold front the geese have appeared - it was like someone had = flipped a switch changing the setting from Summer to Winter. There were = nearly 1000 Canada Geese in the area including three of the diminutive = Richardson's (subspecies hutchinsii). Also present were 70 Snow Geese. = Accompanying the Snows were two adult Ross's Geese sporting their deep = reddish pink, tiny, triangular bills. Also present were a Northern = Harrier, 4 Ruddy Ducks, 7 Green-winged Teal, the drake Lesser Scaup = (present all summer), and 2 pintail.

Good Birding,

Walter Ellison
