It's a very short, but distinguished list. One time, out in the middle of the Atlantic, the Officer of the Deck (the dude on watch in charge of operating the submarine) reported seeing a lot of "gulls." I commented there weren't gulls in the middle of ocean, so he turned the periscope over to me - they were fulmars, flying around and picking at some food item stirred up by the passage of the periscope. Then, there was the time when.... Ok, ok, these weren't in MD waters, so I'll stop the story.
