I did spend some time around the house before = the opera at 2 PM. =20 Species noted were: Turkey Vulture (2) Canada Goose (5) Bald Eagle - first year Sharp-shinned Hawk (2) Cooper's Hawk - the first was the treat. She flew from east to west as = the bright morning sun washed against her right side. An exquisite = adult female. I asked myself why do people sleep in on such a lovely = morning? Two others flew back-to-back about noon, high over head and = heading south. Mourning Dove (12) Barred Owl - giving a single note hoooawah shortly after sunset. Red-bellied Woodpecker (6) Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - one adult male, one immature - traveling = together, and drilling on the pine tree next to the garage. Downy Woodpecker (2) Hairy Woodpecker (4) Flicker (2) Pileated Woodpecker - one calling west of the house in the forest. That = makes six. Sorry no Red-headed. I looked for a while overhead. This = is the time of the year. Eastern Phoebe - probably. A smallish, dark, long-tailed flycatcher fly = by. Blue Jay (6) American Crow (10) Carolina Chickadee (6) Tufted Titmouse (4) White-breasted Nuthatch (4) Carolina Wren (2) Golden-crowned Kinglet - A feeding frenzy about noon with a number of = birds just as I had to pack it in and go. Ruby-crowned Kinglet (4) Eastern Bluebird (35) - a nice collection heading south early Wood Thrush - the first bird of the day calling back in the woods. American Robin (2) Northern Mockingbird European Starling (6) Cedar Waxwing (10) Yellow-rumped Warbler (35) Pine Warbler - adult male Northern Cardinal (10) Red-winged Blackbird - one fly over House Finch - one. The feeder stations have been real barren lately. = Maybe too much wild seed, or the Cooper's Hawk that has been around has = sent them elsewhere. Goldfinch - about four flyovers. That's it. We did very much enjoy Norma and recommend it. The best.
