Saw lots of neat stuff, nothing out of the ordinary EXCEPT: (mammal-related post here, so all ye birding purists close yer eyes) A gray squirrel fell out of a tree from about 60 feet up, landed right in front of us, shook him/her self off, and ran away in embarrassment. It landed with such a thud we thought for sure it was dead!!! Raining squirrels, what will Mother Nature think of next!! Also seen, but only with half the excitement: 20 Great Egrets 1 Great Blue Heron 1 Killdeer 10 Greater Yellowlegs 8 Lesser Yellowlegs 30 Mallards 50 Canada Geese 1 Golden-crowned Kinglet 1 Rusty Blackbird 20 RW Blackbirds 2 Carolina Wrens 2 WB Nuthatches 10 Red-Bellied Woodpeckers 5 Northern Flickers 2 Snapping Turtles A multitude of Eastern Painted Turtles 5 Leopard Frogs 10 Green Frogs 1 Slightly Embarrassed Squirrel ************************* Frank Boyle Laurel, MD ravenfrank@earthlink.net ************************* ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
