It took a while for the fog to burn off, and around the parking lot we had 4 Blue-headed Vireos (including a "flock" of 3), 6 Purple Finches, 2 sapsuckers, both kinglets, etc. From the hawk watch, we greatly enjoyed the company of the locals, with the bird highlights being 2 merlins and 2 ravens. Maybe 10 or so sharpys, a couple Cooper's, local red-tails, black and turkey vultures, etc. No big flight. Like a bad penny, I was in the parking lot when who should appear but Jim Stasz (and Ed Boyd). Jim felt he would be portrayed as a "good penny", which is probably closer to the truth. Problem is, after the Yellow-headed Blackbird incident last weekend, I have to ask his permission every time I want to go to the bathroom! We even had lunch at the rather high-end South Mountain Inn, by the turn off to the park. Could be starting a bad precident for the CCBC, who's normal lunch is Ringler saying "eat your crackers and water, if you have them".
