Neck MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hi All, There was a joint field trip of the Kent County Bird Club and the = Eastern Shore chapter of the Maryland Native Plant Society this Sunday = morning (19 Oct). We had 11 participants who journeyed down to Eastern = Neck NWR for a half day trip. We covered Eastern Neck Narrows, the Duck = Inn Trail, and Bogle's Wharf. Highlights among 55 bird species were a = BROWN-HEADED NUTHATCH in the pines along the lower end of the Duck Inn = Trail accompanied by Pine Warblers, and Downy Woodpeckers; 4 Common = Loons, and a hen Black Scoter on the Chester River at the end of the = Duck Inn Trail; five Osprey still hunting over Eastern Neck Narrows; two = adult Royal Terns at the Narrows; about 14 Dunlin at the Narrows and the = end of Duck Inn Trail; an early hen Bufflehead; a late rough-winged = swallow; about 200 Lesser Scaup; and good numbers of both kinglets = including 30 Golden-crowned and 24 Ruby-crowned. A complete bird list is = provided at the end of this message. After the trip Nancy, Ian and I did a bit more exploring before heading = homeward.
