Late yesterday, we received word that late Saturday, about 5:30pm, a bird=20 described well as a EURASIAN CURLEW was seen at Bombay Hook Refuge. It was at the tidal flat (in the grass), opposite Shearness Pool, and close= =20 to the dike. So the bird was seen well. It was said not to be a WHIMBREL. Not the head pattern, and too big. There have been, recently, LONG-BILLED CURLEW sightings (of one bird),=20 across the Delaware Bay, in southern New Jersey. But the underparts of the bird at Bombay Hook on Saturday were said to be=20 WHITE (with a white undertail covert and rump). We have no reports of the CURLEW being seen at Bombay Hook again since, but= =20 the area there where such a bird could be is vast. 2 WHITE PELICANS were seen in northern Delaware this past weekend (Saturday= =20 & Sunday, October 18th & 19th) at the Thousand Acre Marsh, near the C&D=20 Canal, by the Route 9 bridge. They were with a flock of up to 24 MUTE= SWANS. DICKCISSELS were seen this past weekend both in northern and southern=20 Delaware. In northern Delaware, at the Cedar Swamp Wildlife Area (in the area where=20 the Flycatcher was a couple years ago). In southern Delaware, at the Primehook National Wildlife Refuge, by the=20 beginning of the boardwalk trail. In southern New Jersey, in Salem County, across the river from Delaware, an= =20 adult male YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was found yesterday (Sunday, October=20 19th) in the afternoon, in a large flock of blackbirds by the intersection= =20 of Salem-Fort Elfsborg Road and Featherbed Lane. (Not the Featherbed Lane=20 in Sharptown). The birds were in a cornfield. There will be more reports here on the Birdline soon. Wanted to get these=20 out now. Til later, I'm Armas Hill. Good birding.
