In-Reply-To: <001601c39a82$aad57e10$6501a8c0@HERKY> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit After leading the hawk watching trip for the Carroll County Bird Club to the Washington Monument State Park in Frederick County, I felt a twinge of hurt pride and decided to look for a spot more local. I found a couple candidate spots along the Dug Hill Ridge near Manchester, Carroll County, and staked one out today. Between 1130 and 1400 hrs I counted these southbound migrants: 4 Red-tailed Hawks 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk 12 Turkey Vultures 1 Adult Bald Eagle 1 1st year Bald Eagle Non-migrating local raptors included 10 more TVs, 2 Red-tails, and 2 Cooper's Hawks. This may not seem like much, but in the rolling Piedmont of Carroll County, it's not bad. The spot was on Wentz Road (the NE extension of Route #496), 1.6 miles NE of Route #30. It's less than a mile S of Pennsylvania.
