The winds were strong but not from the ideal direction. During the period I was there the only raptor species seen were Sharp-shinned, Cooper's, and Red-tailed Hawks. (When I went off hiking in the woods for an hour I apparently missed seeing a Golden Eagle fly by; aarghh!) There were plenty of Turkey Vultures but only one Black Vulture. It turns out the best raptor I saw all day was while driving up there: an Osprey over Falls Road just south of the intersection with I-270.
