Date: Sun, 2 Nov 2003 12:14:13 -0500 Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: Jane Kostenko Subject: Kelp Gull, St. Mary's County, MD, November 2, 3003 The Kelp Gull was behind the Sea Breeze Restaurant in Sandgates, MD, on Sunday, November 2, when we arrived around 11 a.m. Other gulls present included Ring-billed, Herring, and Laughing Gulls, and Forster's and Royal Terns. The KEGU's primary feathers are still growing in (P9 was about three-quarters grown in and P10 was only about a third grown out-- no mirror was visible on P10) and faint head streaking was visible. The straw-yellow iris, red orbital and yellow-green legs were clearly visible.
