Remember that there are other white-colored pelican species in the world ... and although vagrants are unlikely, they still need to be eliminated and escapees (e.g., from zoos) are also always theoretically possible ... so, it's important to nail the species. Soft parts and the pattern of the black on the secondaries are the keys to American White Pelicans. To my knowledge, I think we still do not have any written report or photos of these birds.
