Highlights on the Island were a LINCOLN'S SPARROW at the par= king lot for the Life of the Marsh Trail, and three flyby SNOW BUNTINGS i= n the State Park Campground along the dunes. We headed for Taylors Landi= ng (North Vaughn), in the marsh at the end on the road we found one NELSO= N'S and one SALTMARSH SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS. Then while checking out str= anded Needlefish on the mud flats I took a look at what I figured would b= e gulls, instead they turned out to be four AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS. We = watched the three adults and one young bird for about twenty minutes taki= ng many pictures and a short video clip of them flapping their wings and = preening. 11/16/03 Assateague again. Highlights were a LINCOLN'S SPARROW at the C= auseway, a flyover ROSS' GOOSE at the bayside campground, as well as a CL= AY-COLORED SPARROW, and at the Recylce Center a 1st year West Taiga WHITE= -CROWNED SPARROW. On the way home there were 17 CATTLE EGRETS about ten minutes east of Sal= isbury in Wicomico County.
