After about another 20 minutes the other bird, which is less colorful and has just a streaked throat, came in to the same feeder, sat and fed for some time. It did not appear as active as the first individual. After feeding, it flew up into the big Magnolia in the front yard and vanished. This was about 11 am. The yard still has a wealth of flowers which are attractive to hummingbirds and both feeders were full with clean-looking liquid. As Paul said, one can watch easily from the sidewalk. We then went down to the Smithsonian to try and catch up with the hummer at the Ripley Gardens, but despite two sessions of watching of about 45 minutes each (had to re-park the car in between), we never saw it. We did meet Jim Felley there, who, as he reported today, saw the bird this morning. Maybe another time for us!
