Over the weekend it was extensively staked and observed, according to posts on MDOsprey and the Virginia Birding list. I saw it this morning at 6:45, on the north (Mall) side of the Ripley Garden. I agree with the birders who suggest it may be roosting for the night in the corner of the garden next to the A&I Building, near a light and also an exhaust fan, both of which may help keep things warm. Note that the bird has tentatively been ID'ed as a Black-chinned, but you won't hear that from me, since this one would be a lifer (if a Black-chinned is actually what it is).
