They were: Cooper's Hawk (1), Red-tailed Hawk (2), Black Vulture (2), Fox Sparrow (2), two smal dark finches (unidentifiable giving that I was in a vehicle moving without optical aids) I hesitate to say that thier "GISS" was that of redpolls. I looked for the birds later in the day but found no such birds around. Also notable this afternoon were two seperate large-ish flocks of Eastern Bluebirds ( one was 20+ birds, the other was 15 birds). Additionally in the late afternoon I learned that Les Eastman had seen an imm. Red-headed Woodpecker on the insatalation. With a little help from him on exact location I was VERY EASILY able to locate the bird! It was activly feeding in the tops of a small stand of trees between the Gunpowder River and an adjacent marsh. Interestingly it was stowing seeds and berries in the top of a dead poplar tree! Does this mean the bird is planning on over- wintering here? I suppose that time will tell! Thanks again for the tip Les!
