Beetham" Subject: Ripley Hummingbird MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I arrived at the Ripley Garden around 7:30 this morning and stayed for about an hour. The Selasphorus hummingbird was present for most of the time feeding alternately at the blue salvia near the A&I building and the feeder. It perched several times on the tree from which the feeder hangs and the rose bush at the other end of that section of the garden. The bird clearly had pinkish-orange coloration on its sides and under the tail. There were also traces of orange at the base of the tail feathers on the upper side, but I could not tell the extent of the orange with the tail folded. I did not see the Black-chinned Hummingbird.
