However, there are some gulls to report on from Schoolhouse Pond (Upper Marlboro) today. With colder weather setting in, the gull numbers have picked up. Today at lunchtime I recorded: 800 Laughing Gulls (approximately) 272 Ring-billed Gulls (including 11 adults, 3 2nd winter, and 8 1st winter birds in the morning). 161 Herring Gulls (70 adults, 8 3rd winter, 7 2nd winter, & 76 1st winter/juv.) 6 Great Black Backed Gulls (4 adults, 1 2nd winter, 1 1st winter) 3 Lesser Black Backed Gulls (1 adult, 2 1st winter). Also present were 9 Double Crested Cormornats, a flyover Sharpie, 14 Shovelers, 1 Gadwall, the usual Cardinals, White Throats, and Flickers, and one Brown Thrasher.
