The tide was dead low and there were extensive mud flats. There were LOTS of gulls-- very impressive in fact, and one could expect anything! We do this area quite a bit in early spring but hadn't been there at this time of year before. Unfortunately, we didn't see the Franklin's either but as Peter notes, there is a constant procession of birds in and out of the area so folks should keep checking. We did see: 250-300 Bonaparte's, 6-8 Laughing, 100s and 100s of Ring-billed, about 20 Greater BB, maybe 20 Killdeer and an adult Bald Eagle. The large number of gulls was surprising, and we went through them as best we could looking for unusual species, with no success unfortunately. It would be interesting to know how long these gulls will stay around.
