Also had one brief visit by a Winter Wren on Sunday morning, 30 November. Would also like to report, on behalf of my mother, Wanda Tice, some rapto= r sightings in the Pasadena area of Anne Arundel County. One, this morni= ng, was a female NORTHERN HARRIER seen hovering over a cleared section of= land visible from Route 100 between Mountain Road and (closer to) Arunde= l Mills Blvd. She got a good view of the white rump. The other is a "po= ssible" MERLIN seen on Sunday morning, 30 November. This bird was seen h= unting in her/her neighbor's back yard in Pasadena. The bird circled a t= ree in which a flock of Robins had just been feasting on berries. The fl= ight was "graceful" and the bird clearly had the wing shape of a falcon, = was the right size for a Merlin, and was darkly colored with not obvious,= though visible tail banding. The description fit a Merlin when we discu= ssed it over the phone and she is familiar with many BOP but was unable t= o give a definite ID; it was fairly dark lighting when she saw it. *She = would love to know if there are any recent Merlin sightings from the Pasa= dena area and is also interested in hearing descriptions of the hunting b= ehavior of Merlin. Please send to the email below and I will share with = her any correspondence. But as we move closer to winter I wonder how steadfast these birds have been. Our own PUFI's stayed only one day, and I sense that others have also moved on. What is the experience of others who reported PUFI's earlier? And what does that foretell about the chances of their occurring on the CBC's? - Fred Fallon Bowie fwfallon@earthlink.net =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D =========================================================================
