MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sorry I haven't had time to post this sooner -- Ken Board and I saw two female Common Goldeneyes at Centennial Lake yesterday afternoon. They were just below the hill on the north side near the Wood Duck Pond (there's a wooden fence and two benches). We first saw them from the south side of the lake and thought they were COGOs but couldn't be sure at that distance, especially since they were fast asleep with their heads tucked in. They cooperatively gave us time to get all the way around to the other side, and when we got to the fence they had just awakened, giving us an excellent view. After a minute or two they began swimming away to the east. There wasn't much activity in the middle of the afternoon, but besides the usual suspects we saw a Hairy Woodpecker at the west parking lot and a couple of Pied-billed Grebes in the area off the concession dock.
