Great Oak Pond is starting to = freeze up (it may open again this week) driving away its flock of Ruddy = Ducks and Bufflehead - yesterday there were two adult Bald Eagles = fighting over a goose carcass there. On Handy Point Road we found four = American Pipits with larks. At the John Hanson Road ponds there were = still 40 Ruddy Ducks and 70 shovelers, and a hunting Northern Harrier. = On the way home we took a circuitous route via Worton and Lynch and = found a good sized flock of larks just south of Cooper's Lane on MD-298 = near the high school which also contained one handsome adult male SNOW = BUNTING. So 7 Dec '03 will not live in infamy for me at least, on the = other hand folks in New England may not all agree (although the skiers = might).
