I forget what road it was on, but some distance from the Blackwater Wildlife Loop. We observed about a half dozen Turkey Vultures, two Red-tailed Hawks, and a lone Black Vulture lurking around a deer carcasss. The Red-tails were plucking away at the hindquarters of the dead doe. The vultures just looked on. The vultures appeared to be content to let the hawks have their way. So, are Red-tailed Hawks, in fact, dominant over both vulture species? Or were the vultures just waiting for the hawks to open up what looked like a pretty fresh carcass? He also left out two dead Turkeys along DeCoursey Rd. Thanks to Stan for an excellent trip. A fun time was had by all four participants.
