At about 3:30 p.m. we walked through the Ripley Garden and briefly saw the Black-chinned Hummer perched and flying. Never landed on the feeder while we were there. She appeared oblivious to the amount of discussion she and the Rufous have engendered on this list-serv. Earlier in the afternoon, ironically enough, we had been in the Natural History Museum and spent a lot of time in the earthquake/seismology section. We were on our way home by car when the earthquake in VA "hit." Our NJ visitors later observed that the streets in DC are so rough a quake would have to hit 7 on the Richter scale before anyone driving around could feel anything! Mike Bowen Bethesda, MD D. H.
