We also spotted a pair of Northern Flickers. The latter might not be news to some but we used to see Northern Flickers more often. It has been months if not a year since I've seen them around my yard. Sorry to say, the Red Breasted Nuthatch hasn't been seen in my yard since Sat, Dec 6. I am also seeking advice. I was very fortunate this spring to put in a rather large picture window to better view the birds. It has been wonderful and when we selected the window I ordered two casements without panes in order to have unrestricted viewing. Well, you experienced birders will know what is coming...but I was totally unprepared for what has been happening. Yes, we have been having hits/strikes/crashes into the window. Mostly from mourning doves but some others as well. What can I do to the window that will prevent the birds from harming themselves, but will not diminish my viewing clarity? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.
