Could the bird have been eating orange or red berries that stained the = plumage?

I have a mystery bird in my driveway and need help with an ID. It is a = fairly large bird (about Cardinal size), looks like a juvenile sparrow = to me.  It has a bold eye strip, black legs,and orange at the throat.  = Its breast is very heavily marked.  The feathering makes me think it is = a juvenile.  It sort of looks like a female red-winged black bird, but = the orange at the throat has me puzzled.  Appreciate help on this.
