I saw it pruning and could see the orange around the neck. I think that is one of its markings. I have a mystery bird in my driveway and need help with an ID. It is a fairly large bird (about Cardinal size), looks like a juvenile sparrow to me. It has a bold eye strip, black legs,and orange at the throat. Its breast is very heavily marked. The feathering makes me think it is a juvenile. It sort of looks like a female red-winged black bird, but the orange at the throat has me puzzled. Appreciate help on this.
