I would estimate the total flock numbers to be around 10,000 with an even 50/50 split in species. Today while making our inspection rounds at the Edgewood Area of APG I found at least two and possibly a third Red-headed Woodpecker feeding on the ground in the area that another RHWO has been seen lately. One of the birds could have been the one seen recently as it's plummage was similar. The other's head was washed with red and it's breasted was totaly red. A third possible RHWO was seen about 50 yards back in the woods. I say possible because it could have been one of the previously seen birds. these were undoubtably the best looks I have ever had at this species. The birds were seen from 10 feet and were feeding on the ground amoung Juncos and Red- bellied Woodpeckers. Also feeding there was a female Rusty Blackbird.
