It was large, approaching the size of = Red-tailed Hawk. It was heavily streaked, giving an overall darker = appearance. Heavy bodied, broad tailed, and when I got an under-side = view of it, the underparts were heavily streaked from throat to vent, as = were the underwings. From that angle, I could also see that the tail = was not long enough to be a Cooper's. The trailing edge of the wings = had the characteristic sinusoidal shape, and the end of the retrices did = not have any substantial amount of white on the terminal band. Proportions were like that of a Sharp-shinned, but this was a = Sharp-shinned on steroids! Needless to say, there was a lot of alarm = squawking coming from the land birds in the area, and they were pretty = quiet after the Gos passed. As it flew south, I lost sight of it over = the tree-line boundary of Adkins.
