Fallon" Subject: Bowie CBC report MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Unlike last week-end's series of CBC's, the Bowie Christmas Bird Count was attended by beautiful, fair, windless weather, albeit a bit cold early in the day. Some high-lights include Peregrine (ph); Red-headed Woodpeckers in 2 places; Pied-billed Grebes, Canvasback, and House Wren at Lake Artemesia; Black-and-white Warbler in Bowie's Overbrook Park; and 20 Meadowlarks at an extensively-grassed DoD facility. R-c Kinglets, Towhees, and Fox Sparrows were relatively high; ducks, Phoebes, Carolina Wrens, and Bluebirds relatively low. No winter finches were seen despite many appearances earlier in the season. Total species count was 92, high for this inland circle.
