About 30 miles further west on the canal, we missed the "hat trick" today for lack of a Red-headed, which I've never seen along the towpath. But to compensate we had a best-ever look at a male Red-breasted Merganser. Swam right under the bridge we were standing on, with bright sunlight on him and at our backs. Between mileposts 51 and 52. I've never managed to do this in one outing before, so it was very exciting. ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
