GS BUMED" Subject: Kelp Gull, St. Mary's County, MD MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" The Kelp Gull was on the pier behind the Sea Breeze Restaurant in Sandgates, MD, on Sunday, 28 December, when my wife and I arrived around 1100. The KEGU is still attracting attention with birders from Virginia, Michigan and Ontario in attendance. Other gulls present included Ring-billed, Herring, and Great Black-backed. The Patuxent River was without a ripple on this clear, mild and windless winter day. Numerous waterfowl were on the river to include Mute Swan (2), Canada Goose (100s are the far bank), Common Goldeneye (50+), Bufflehead (100+) and Long-tailed Duck (10+). The Sea Breeze Restaurant has reopened for business, having undergone extensive interior renovation to undo the storm-surge damage wrought by Hurricane/Tropical Storm Isabel. We were told the water reached the barroom area.
