I don't know if any of this info will help, but here are some birds I saw on Jan 1 and 2 that may include a new species or two. Before I went over to the eastern shore (on the eve of Jan 1), I went to Jug Bay (at Patuxent River Park, in Prince George's Co.) to look for one of the Grtr white-fronted geese found by Danny Bystrak. I was there from 3:30 to 4:15 but had no luck. The birds I saw included many of the same species of waterfowl seen up-river in the AM, and also ring-necked ducks. At the airfield (Selby's Landing) I saw cedar waxwings, red-shouldered hawk, n. harrier, common snipe, over 120 kildeer (large flock!), e. phoebe, Am. widgeon and a barred owl. Total 56 species for Jug Bay area from that day. Then while visiting friends on Jan 2, on the Chesapeake Bay about 1/2 mile north of Rock Hall, I saw many lesser and a few greater scaup, C. goose, snow goose, mallards, black ducks, buffleheads, C. goldeneye, canvasback, long-tailed duck, d-c cormorant, herring gull, ring-billed gull, greater black-backed gull and a pair of Bonaparte's gulls. All of these were near shore (1/4 to /2 mile out). Farther out on the Bay (due west) was a common loon.
