As expected, the major activity at Vaughn were the hunters, and birds were scarce at Truitt's Landing. The fields and impoundments on Taylor's Landing were pretty active, with good numbers of Swamp, Song, Chipping and Savannah Sparrows. A couple of Cooper's Hawks were keeping their heads down, though. Over at Deal, along Game Reserve Road (as noted in DeLorme), we managed to find an American Bittern and a Rough-legged Hawk. Nothing much to report from Riley Roberts Road, other than a lot of hunting Harriers. Just over the bridge to Deal Island, bayside held one Common Loon, and a number of Surf Scoters. One Bufflehead who had managed to escape the shot onslaught was the only duck seen at the end of the road at the boat landing in Wenona. I guess we shoulda gone on Sunday!
