It was probably a little too warm for a good count but I did find (mostly heard) 7. Add these birds to the 4 I recorded on my Hunting Quarter Rd. count on 1-03 would give a total of 11 for the weekend. My quesstimate would be that there are at least two dozen Red-headed Woodpeckers at McKee-Beshers WMA(Hughes Hollow) this winter, which is not surprising given the abundance of acorns. Gray Squirrels have been common on all my counts, as are Blue Jays.
