Back in mid-November I had to have a chest Xray done, and when I was done with the paperwork, I sat down in the waiting room, and picked up a magazine from the coffee table there. IIt was the previous weeks issue of Sports Illustrated, which was their 50th anniversary issue. It featured copies of every cover thay had ever had, and articles about some of them. One of the articles was something like "Sports or not sports" and there was a picture at the bottom of both pages with covers of "sports" other than "sports". The first one was a cover with a tree covered with assorted birds (art by Arthur Singer) with the title Bird- Watchers Guide. The date was May 16,1955. This was the day I was born! I showed my wife, who was amazed and she pursued this and got me a copy on E-bay for Christmas, which is now in a hinged frame in my bedroom! Must've been fate...
