There was one who had what was left of a fish, but he was not allowed to eat it, as each eagle in his turn would harrass the one guarding the fish. There were ongoing displays and locking of tallons in the air. It was quite a show. The number varied between 15 and 25 as eagles joined and lost interest. About 50/50 adults to juves and basic I-IV. Today, around 2:30pm I observed "our" pair of BE's mating on the ice about 1/2 mile from the shore. It lasted about 15-20 seconds. I believe this is the same pair Carrie observed mating on the ice one year ago on the 24th. Of course the areas of open water are stuffed with waterfowl. Buffies, Hoodies, Common Merg, Gadwall, Mallards, Ring-necks and the rest of the usual crowd.
