Intergrades with other subspecies, particularly Dusky, could not be ruled out from the photos and descriptions. Origin was also an issue, as it always is with rare waterfowl. Richardson's is the palest of the small Canada subspecies, paler than most of our regular East Coast subspecies; and Cackling is one of the darkest Canada Goose subspecies.
