Photos of these two geese can be found at: http://home.comcast.net/~ed_uebel/geese.jpg As you can see, "Spot-neck" and "Spot-face" can be recognized by the distinct black markings on the right-side of their face and neck. If I am not mistaken, "Spot-face" has been at Lake Artemesia for the past two Falls, and has been photographed by Berwyn Heights resident, Dan LaRusso. http://artemesia.larussoweb.com/fowl18.html http://artemesia.larussoweb.com/fowl14.html "Spot-neck" is a recent newcomer. These "wild domesticated geese" fly to and from Lake Artemesia" with a flock of Canada geese. Apparently, these geese find their own food, fly to wherever they want to go, breed and raise young in wild. Yet, I can not find these geese listed on any bird list. I was curious about when they first escaped and began breeding in the wild? Whether it was fairly recent or a number of years ago? And I was wondering about how abundant these geese are? Whether seeing them is a fairly common occurrence or whether they are fairly rare? Apparently, they have been observed in New York: http://www.oceanwanderers.com/LeucCanGo.hmtl During the winter, Lake Artemesia has a lot of Canada geese, but when they begin to leave as Spring approaches, I suspect that the "wild domesticated geese" will leave with them. If you should happen to see ole "Spot-face" and "Spot-neck", your neck of the woods, I would be interested in learning their whereabouts.
