Tree & Fox Sparrow - Gaithersburg MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Recent snow storm has brought 1st Fox Sparrow of the year and 1st ever American Tree Sparrow (on the thistle feeder w/ goldfinches) and Red Shouldered Hawk to my yard. Cooper's Hawk's ability to pursue its prey between and through the shrubbery continues to astonish. Reminds me of the scene from one of the Star Wars movies where the Millenium falcon flies through center of an asteroid. Also saw a nice group of 7-8 Fox Sparrows feeding together on the side of White Ground Road near some hay bales just east of Rt. 28. Some deer carcasses in a field on the left side (going west) of Sugarland Road about a mile and a half past Rt. 28 provided great views of both vulture species.
