I would count it for West Va, but that's just me. For those of you who seem to have problems getting a good look at this bird, I seldom hike in the Catoctins without one landing somewhere on me. Head, shoulder, fly rod, etc. Shenandoah Park is pretty good, too but not as reliable. Too many places and not enough time. I really think this bird favors the mountain forests around here, although it can be found just about anywhere. My all time favorite sighting was in Shenandoah several years ago after I had climbed to the top of a rocky outcrop for reasons I won't go into. I was sitting there exhausted, when one flew in from across the stream valley and landed on a tree about ten feet from my nose. I watched it as it hopped around the tree trunk looking for bugs when it suddenly realized I was there and took off. I'm sure it was shocked to see me. To this day I have no idea what I was doing there either. He sure didn't expect me. My other favorite was when a pair of them visited our campsite in Florida.
