Please forgive the chest-thumping. I have lived and birded in MD for 35 years, so this milestone has taken an excruciatingly long time to arrive. I looked at my records and determined that I now have seen more gull species in Maryland (thanks in part to our friend Shrimpy in St. Mary's County) than in any other state other than California -- 11 species in all. And California has some species like Heermann's, Mew, California, Western, and Glaucous-winged, that are darned difficult to get round here! So I'll take the case of champagne now, Norm!! Why wait?
