We also nixed on the 1-winter Glaucous Gull that had been at = the Charles Co. Landfill for a couple weeks. Sorry Bob. Perhaps a sign = of spring. =20 We were able to find an immature White-crowned Sparrow (#107) near = Allen's Fresh, on a farm road about half way between the 301/234 = intersection and the first bridge. Thanks to Cora Fulton for the tip. = She had the bird there during the December 28, 2003 Port Tobacco = Christmas count. =20 Other birds of note were four Eastern Bluebirds and a single Chipping = Sparrow along Allen's Fresh Road, and maybe a pair of Tree Sparrows and = a single Horned Lark down near the marsh at Allen's Fresh. At the = landfill we were able to relocate the 3rd year Lesser Black-backed Gull = found on Saturday. The remainder of the ~2000 gulls were Ring-billed, = Herring, and a few Greater Black-backed Gull. The Rusty Blackbird flock is still around our house in Waldorf, as well = as two Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, and three Fox Sparrow. If the Great Lakes are frozen over, we could have another Red-necked = Grebe year like we had last year. Keep a lookout. Short-eared Owl search tomorrow evening. Wish me luck.
