While I didn't find them, much to my surprise I found a first year Coot under the dock. I then left to investigate a large raft of waterfowl off Myrtle Point. From the Wet Sox trail there were wonderful close-up views of 100s of ducks, Ruddies, Scaup, Canvasbacks, Golden-eyes. Buffleheads and 3 Redheads, 2 drakes & 1 hen. It was quiet & I was protected from the wind the only sound was the splashing of water as the birds dove & came up & an occasional squeaky bathtub duck call. Many of the birds were barely 20 feet from shore. Nice. The sun was getting low & the light was perfect...my video camera was back in the car. While I was there a young Bald Eagle powered it's way up the river not far from shore.
