When I first glanced at the photos, my immediate first impression was the bird had some Bar-headed Goose in it, based on the head pattern, bill shape, and a few other things. However, Bar-headeds (an Asian species) are smaller than Canada's ... a big opposing factor. Purely speculating, here ...
