Rd. = in Caroline County for Ross' Goose, Gwen and I observed a large flock of = about 40 Common Mergansers flying high over the field. Perhaps = migrating to water that has recently opened with the warmer = temperatures. I don't think this species is common in this part of the = state. When will spring come? I keep reading about the songs of spring, but am = waiting for the weather of spring. Even at a balmy 32 F, I was = extremely uncomfortable with the unshielded wind.=20 It was good to see many of the "old chasers" out looking for the = Bohemian Waxwing. Most of the birders we were around got only glimpses = of the bird. The "I would like to get a better look" look view. Thanks = to Jim Stasz for promptly reporting the animal. There is no reason this = bird should leave anytime soon, so go try your luck.
